Florida International University (FIU) SW 14th St. Drainage Improvements

​CONNECT Engineering’s personnel provided their expertise to address ongoing drainage issues along SW 14th Street. The roadway is within FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus and adjacent to the University Towers housing buildings. The primary purpose of this project was to design drainage improvements. It was observed after rain events that stormwater runoff would spread into the travel lanes and the ingress/egress of the University Towers instead of draining toward the existing curb inlet.  The project included the design of 24-inch French drain and 18-inch solid pipe which connected to an existing stormwater management system. Our services included field reviews, analysis, design, utility coordination, project management, bid and award, and construction administration services.
